Finding the best Take Out joints

I find the best way to enjoy my favorite Take Away food is by doing just that.. Taking it away, not home, but out somewhere and devouring it amid a peaceful backdrop. Yes, you could just play fetch and carry, go out, grab the grub and come home again to lounge about in front of the T.V. But hey, you’re already out and there probably nothing good on the box anyway.

The no-brainier is Fish & Chips by the beach. Everyone’s done it. My favorite spot for Fish & Chips is in the car park at Southside of Bells Beach, especially if there is a storm rolling in, but a nice sunset will do. Fish & Chips supplies by Flippin’ Fresh of Torquay.

But I’m sure we can get more inventive than that. Pizza at the lake, or at the top of Mt Dandenong? Think I want to try that one at the snow next…

In my car I have a pack filled with all the eating essentials. Plates, cups, bowls, knifes, forks and spoons. Not to mention a handy picnic rug. This pack often comes in handy when a spur of the moment dinner decision occurs. (As pictured, Chinese take away from Nathan’s at Bayswater, eaten at Kalorama).

So I urge you, next time you Take Out, Take out and stay out. Pack yourself an Eat Out survival kit, horde as many Napkins as you can, Find a nice place and take time to enjoy the meal you did not prepare yourself. Your food will thank you.
