What’s on Web

Here is a bunch of stuff for you to check out this week.

If you haven’t heard of a little game available on Steam called Faster Than Light then where have you been. No seriously, have you been trapped in a freezer or something? Go, check it out now, I won’t even care that you’ve left the website… Well maybe a little, so stick around for a bit longer. It’s a great space adventure game seeing you plot a course through space, upgrade your ship’s systems, manage your ships resources all while battling space pirates, drones, rebels and hostile aliens. Each adventure is randomised so no two adventures will be the same, one event will even have different outcomes even if you make the same choice so be prepared for anything. Expect to only last a few rounds on your first few adventures but also expect to get better used to managing resources and keep your crew alive for longer and longer each time you come back. Appropriate links below but before you get completely immersed into this game becoming absolutely oblivious to the world around you for the next few weeks, read on, come back to the links later.

FTL on Steam – http://store.steampowered.com/app/212680/

If you already know about FTL and you have developed a habit of playing games with the music or sound off, you are doing yourself a disservice. Really turn that volume up, turn up the awesomeness that compliments the style of this game and ties the whole thing up with a great big red bow. All written and produced by Ben Prunty. If you enjoy the music and I know you will, I recommend you check out Chromatic T-Rex. A great variety of tracks incorporating a bunch of different styles and listed as pay what you want on bandcamp you get to set the price tag. This is well worth throwing more than a couple of dollars at. My two favourite tracks are Hades and Love Story but really enjoy more than half the tracks on the album and wouldn’t go out of my way to skip any of the others if they came up on my playlist, unlike half the songs in my current iTunes library. Links below. Ok you can go now..
