I was looking for a way to fill in my hour long car journey to work in the mornings, so asked around for some podcast recommendations to pass the time. My cousin came up with pure gold. “What you need to do is download episodes of the Thrilling Adventure Hour. Go back as far as you can with the one called Sparks Nevada: Marshall on Mars ‘coz it’s a series but others like Beyond Belief are fairly episodic so you won’t feel lost coming half way through a running story.”
Needless to say, I took his advise and downloaded all the episodes I could and then started to work my way through. Now, you go and do the same. What is it? The Thrilling Adventure Hour is a staged production in the style of old time radio and as such translates really well to the audio podcast medium. I can’t say I’m a raving fan of all the shows they have produced but have enjoyed most, in particular stories in the Sparks Nevada universe and Beyond Belief.
So to Frank and Sadie Doyle, Colonel Tick Tock, Captain Laserbeam, Sparks Nevada, Croach, Red, Cactoid Jim, the rest of the Sparks Nevada Crew and everyone I haven’t mentioned, thank you for making my trips into work all that more enjoyable. And for that, the Thrilling Adventure Hour gets a Sunday Shoutout.
